It’s interesting to look at the suicide rate, in different regions of the world, and by gender. In Europe, four times as many men die by suicide, compared to women, yet the East Mediterranean region has the lowest ratio (almost the same number of men dying as women).
The suicides per 100,000 is also interesting. We might assume that more affluent countries, would have lower suicide rates, yet Africa’s suicide rate is 6.4 per 100,000 people, compared to Europe, at 14.2 per 100,000, that’s more than double.
